I have a 4-year old MacBook Air that I love and have been waiting with bated breath for a new Air with a Sky Lake or Kaby Lake processor. My 2012 Mac has about a 6 hour battery life and I love typing on it.

The current Mac Air’s have a 12 hour life and that’s not bad but the 6th or 7th generation CPU’s should extend the battery life to about 16 hours. That would be awesome!

Currently with my Mac I can go all day without charging it but will usually top it up once or twice a day just in case. It is so nice not to have to bring a charger along with me, when I head out the door.

I have a Windows Ultrabook also that was basically the same price as the Mac but only has a practical battery life of around 4 hours that I bought in 2011 but hated the keyboard and touchpad. It was difficult to type on without typo’s and the touch pad was always screwy.

So last week at the big Apple show, I found that the only thing was new MacBook Pro’s and prices START at $1500. I can buy a current MacBook Air with i7 CPU and 500 gb hard drive for that money. A loaded Pro approaches $3,000 and that’s just a little too steep for a laptop. And a battery life of 10 hours which sucks for the amount of jack you have to lay out.

Now I have to weight if I want to just buy the current MacBook Air with a 2 year old CPU to make sure that I can upgrade before they drop the Air all together. Or wait and hope that Apple releases a new version of the Air.

As an author of smut, I don’t need all of the fancy graphics displays. I just need to write stuff, preferably with one hand!

Speaking of smut, my current Author’s Rank on Amazon is #245, which is one of my best so far. I’d pat myself on the back but the last time I tried that, it hurt for a week!
