As a self-published author of smut, I often read about the pro’s and con’s of self-publishing. It seems to be a kind of Ford vs Chevy argument as each has it’s benefits and disadvantages.
One of my favorite authors, Lisabet Sari, just published a list of reasons why she feels self-publishing is the way to go. Below is her posting, clipped to the section on self-publishing:

The Dancer (21,000 words) is a story about a young college girl who is working her way through college by dancing at The Fox’s Den, a gentlemen’s club in Las Vegas. While on the job only a week, she has learned a lot about sex beyond what was taught in Sex Ed 101.
What could possibly go wrong? Only that her mother learned of her new job stripping and was convinced that she was also hooking. What’s a mother to do, so naturally she crashes into the bosses’ office in full on crazy lady attack mode.
Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and the crazy lady ends up in bed with the bosses’ wife, while the young dancer, Peaches, ends up in a threesome with the boss Larry and Linda, the manager.

As in my last blog post, the censors at Amazon have done it again. “Seduced By The Dark Side” which has been one of my best sellers for 3 years was suddenly ranked ADULT!
WTF?
At least Amazon was nice enough to tell me that it was the cover image and not the usual “we are not going to tell you what we don’t like, figure it out.”
I love that picture and the only thing I can think of is that you can sort of see her nips through the t-shirt?
As an author of erotica, I thread a fine line when creating a cover for my porn. I like a cover that is sexy and eye catching, while not being too far over the edge. You may not realize it but Amazon and Apple are very particular about cover images.
Butt shots are out, nudity naturally, and a lot of things that may surprise you. While you can get away with most images on Kinky Literature, SmashWords, or Excitica other sites are not so friendly to writers of erotica.
Well I’m some 15,000+ words on my latest smut story “Stripper or Nurse?”. No details shared as of yet except it will be one of the hottest stories I’ve ever written. In other words, everybody gets laid even the valet!
