Finding Smut in Apple Books

How do you find erotic literature on Apple Books? I’m asking myself as I ponder the meaning of life.

As a computer nerd, I have a foot in both Windows and Mac camps. I grew up with DOS and then Windows. I write computer programs under Windows but only use a Mac because I like their laptops. The only Windows laptop I like is the Lenovo business machines. Big and clunky, but the keyboard and touchpad actually work, unlike every other Windows laptop I’ve owned.

People have suggested that I get a mouse for my Windows laptop, but a laptop is something you carry around without having to haul a bunch of accessories to use it. Plus, battery life on a Windows laptop generally sucks.

Why Should You Buy Erotic Literature?

When I want to read murder mysteries, I turn to Patterson, Grisham, and Connolly. War stories are Clancy, Baldacci, Hunter, and Flynn. Koontz and King are my horror go-to’s.

But what about erotica? With dirty books, you naturally assume someone will get laid, but how true is that? I enjoy reading porn as much as the next person, but I don’t want to wait until the last page for someone to get shagged. Granted, most erotic stories will be doing the dirty before the final chapter, but a lot of the time, sex is few and far between.

True story: One of our straight friends writes bodice rippers and is pretty good at it. She has no idea that we are in the Lifestyle but just friends. A couple of years ago, her editor said she needed to add more sex to her stories. So now, on about the last page of a story, the heroine gets almost raped by the hero, and she loves it.

I often wonder about her true feelings about sex as I assume she thinks it’s as dirty and disgusting as her mother told her it would be. One of the things you have to put up with is allowing your husband five minutes of satisfaction every other odd, dated Friday.

All Hallows’ Eve

Once again, it’s Halloween, boys, and girls. After the youngsters are safely tucked away in a sugar-induced coma, it’s time for the older boys and girls to go out and play.

Hopefully, one of your group has volunteered to stay sober and somewhat sane. Otherwise, call Uber or Lyft for a ride. We’ll be down on the Las Vegas Strip partying and people-watching.

The nice thing about being on the Strip is people watching, and the show is often better than the ones you have to pay for.

Be careful and have fun! I realize those two are mutually exclusive but try to make it home alive as some people have to work in the morning.

The Perfect Wife Now Serving Amazon Customers

Today marks twelve days since I submitted The Perfect Wife for review at Amazon, and was finally approved today! What’s funny is that the paperback version was immediately approved for release. Typically, the review process is a technical review to ensure that the resultant electronic copy is formatted properly after conversion. SmashWords immediately accepted the same story except for the front and back, but who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

I’ve switched over to Scrivener for most of my writing. The beauty of Scrivener is that the software breaks up a story into the basic parts, front matter, body, and back matter. The front matter or front of a book is the cover, title page, copyright page, and table of contents. The body is the actual story or the dirty parts. Back matter is information on other stories and about the author.

The body of the story is the same, no matter where it is published. With Scrivener, you create customized front and back matter for the distributor you are using, such as Amazon or SmashWords. Then you tell Scrivener which version to generate and it builds a Word output file of the complete story from front to back.
