I woke this morning to news of the senseless shooting by yet another loon, which as I write this there are at least 49 dead and 53 wounded. A well armed individual, with both a long gun and pistol, entered a popular gay nightclub, Pulse, in Orlando, Florida. The NBC News Special hinted that it might have been influenced by the shooter’s gay hatred.
We need to wait to condemn people until we know all of the facts but the simple thing is that there is no reason to shoot defenseless people. I have a lot of LGBT friends and know they are often persecuted by people, who are offended by those who are different from themselves.
Those of us, who I consider “normal”, the motives to drive a person to randomly kill or maim over 100 people, are difficult to fathom.
My thanks go out to the lines of people, who have lined up to donate blood.
Even if/when the police catch this guy and determine motive, this kind of senseless killing never makes sense except to the sicko that think it does…

I know kDaddy, those of us who tend to live on the fringe, often see reactions from those better than we are but thankfully not to this extent. As a kid, I grew up in deep East Texas with enough guns around the house to start a small war, yet we never considered shooting anyone much less people we didn’t even know. You stay safe, we don’t need to lose anyone else to a nut job.

Ever since I was a kid, move seen violence against homosexuals, usually in the form of gays getting jumped and beaten… but have read of gays being murdered in other locales… but nothing on this kind of scale. Homosexuality – even bisexuality – is here to stay and just because one has issues with either sexuality doesn’t mean they can right what they perceive as an immoral wrong by killing people.
I wonder how many straight people were in there and were killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and killed for an insane reason?

When we lived in the mid-west, we often went to a club that had drag shows and other gay clubs. They were always a lot of fun and never a problem. The only problem was getting in the door, as typically gay bars, strip clubs, and alternative lifestyles clubs are in parts of town you wouldn’t normally be in much less late at night.
