Saying Goodbye to 2023

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. 2023 was another year of craziness for the world. While COVID is still around, it seems to have disappeared in the cloud raised by loons who decide, for whatever reason, to shoot someone. As a kid growing up in East Texas, guns were a way of life on the farm, but I never had the urge to shoot my neighbor down the road. The old saying, “Why can’t we all just get along?” seems more appropriate than ever. Possibly, 2024 will be better, but I’m not holding my breath.

Struggles With Publishing

After publishing over forty erotic stories during the last eleven years, I’ve started to update some of my earlier books and freshen them up. I hit a roadblock with The Runaway, initially published almost ten years ago.

As authors, we have to jump through hoops to format our smut to properly publish at Amazon, SmashWords, Apple, and other distributors. The reader doesn’t see any of this but to get a story accepted and available to readers, several things must happen.

The document file must be acceptable and in the proper format to be processed. While none of this is overly complex, a number of things have to happen correctly for this to work. I selected The Runaway as my next story to republish. I’m not talking about republishing it as a new story but simply revising the original story and reissuing it. I would like to think that my creds for writing more better have improved in ten years. For me, reissuing a story is going back through it with fresh eyes and cleaning up things I missed while checking out that hot chick’s mini skirt. No big deal, right? Wrong!

Swinging and Divorce

One thing that occasionally comes up is the divorce rate among those in the lifestyle. Searching the Internet returns both pro and con surveys, but most tend to show wife swappers have a lower divorce rate.

The current incidence of divorce among the general public is 50-60%, or approximately half of the marriages will end in divorce. And around 25-30% of straights will have an affair that may or may not push them to divorce court.

You’d think that perverted couples who throw their keys in a bowl and have their wives pulling a train would keep a good divorce lawyer on speed dial. But don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions.

In our experience, swingers divorce much less frequently than monogamous married couples. Virtually every couple that we’ve known for years is still together. To be fair, some qualifications go with my opinion.

Google Play Books and Erotic Literature

I’ve recently started publishing on Google Play Books in both electronic (ePub) and audiobook formats. So far, it seems to be working out, and sales are ramping up. It’s pretty straightforward to publish on Google but you have to pay attention to detail.

The publishing process is a step-by-step, similar to Amazon, SmashWords, or Draft2Digital, but it’s easy to miss the two adult-related questions. There is a button for Mature Audiences and one for the minimum age of the reader. I’m not sure if you need to enter a minimum age after selecting mature audiences but I took the step of entering 18+ for the reader target ages.

Currently, the publishing times are quick. In my experience, it takes less than an hour for your smut book to be reviewed and released for public consumption. Then, once you’ve published your electronic version of the story, it can be translated into audiobook format.

Ensure you don’t use any four-letter words in the blurb, as that gets their shorts in a knot. Looking at some of the titles offered by other authors, I question Google being offended by a dirty word when My Semen Sipping Mom, Pumped Full of Cum, My Pump and Dump MILF, Creampie in Fertile Holes, Oops He Got Me Pregnant, and Virgin Cum Dumpsters are proudly displayed in the Google Play Books Catalog. Yet, they are offended at my use of the word “fuck?” So far, How to Ejaculate and Shoot Further is my favorite.

Greetings from Lost Wages

I hope you had a good Turkey Day and now must purge or diet for the next few weeks to get back to your fighting weight for Ho Ho to arrive. For us, it’s getting ready for our annual New Year’s PJ Party, which will be all-consuming until the ball drops.

Our PJ parties were large by house party standards when we lived in the Midwest. We’ve had to cut back somewhat due to the lack of parking space in Sin City. Back home, our house was on over an acre of land, giving us plenty of room for guests’ cars. In Las Vegas, land is at a premium and generally over $500-$750K/acre, meaning parking spots are at a premium.

Typically, about 120-130 people would fill our house to overflowing. Our minions are at work helping us get ready. One of the couples works as DJs at Strip clubs and is building us a jump drive of songs for the evening. But most of the work is basic grunt labor. Much furniture is moved to the garage to encourage people to stand and mingle rather than sit and vegetated.
