Well, not exactly, as my wife isn’t blonde, but other than that, she’s a dead ringer for Foxy. Ali Larter, who plays Angela Norris, the wife of the lead, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton). Tommy is known as a landman, or the person who manages the mineral rights on property in West Texas.

I’ve been watching Landman on Paramount and love the show. I was born and raised in what is known as Deep East Texas, or the eastern side of the great state of Texas, next to Louisiana. My family traces its roots many generations back in Texas and may have fought and died at the Alamo.

After graduating from college, I worked in Houston designing oil refineries. My dad is a welder, and most of my relatives are in the petroleum business in one way or another. After Houston, I relocated to the Midwest and switched to the design of chemical plants and power plants.

I got into photography in high school, and it became one of my favorite hobbies. However, I never had time for it in Houston because I always worked 60-80 hours a week at my day job. I was burned out and hadn’t taken a vacation in three years when a major chemical firm offered me a job in their corporate engineering division at twice my salary. What sealed the deal for me was that I was working 40 hours a week and earning significantly more money.

With free time, I got into photography and started working for one of the biggest booking agencies in town. It was a great gig: I took pictures at lots of concerts and met bands and celebrities. Plus, with my day job, I could now afford to buy professional camera gear.

I joined a photography club, and life was good. Before Christmas, our photography club had a Christmas party at a local restaurant bar. During the party, I watched as these two models arrived. They were like Mutt and Jeff, one girl was over six feet in heels, and the other about five-seven.

I initially hit on the short blonde as the brunette was definitely out of my league. But while talking to the two girls, the tall brunette and I made a connection. My future wife was a clothes horse, or one of the girls you see walking the runway modeling haute couture clothes. We ended up in a fight when the blonde got pissed that I switched horses in midstream, but we all ended up friends.

Foxy weighed 115 pounds and was 6 feet tall, so you can imagine she was a little on the thin side. I think she was a size 4 or 5, and it took me a couple of years to bulk her up to her fighting weight of around 130 pounds.

She was twenty when we started dating, and luckily, I didn’t look underage, so we never had any trouble getting her into clubs. Foxy is one of those people who knows everyone in the place within half an hour. As my mother says, “Foxy would talk to a fence post.” She has always been arm candy and is one of the most gorgeous women I’ve ever known. Foxy excels at being a kept woman. Beyond being the perfect companion, her primary skill set is keeping the economy rolling. “I can’t be overdrawn as I still have checks left!”

This is where Foxy and Angela Norris (Landman) are both poured out of the same mold and keep the recession at bay. It took me a few episodes to realize that Tommy’s wife and my wife have a lot in common, as both are consumers.
