You are probably tired of hearing about this, but I’m positively blown away by the results of switching to SmashWords from Draft2Digital. As you may know, D2D acquired SmashWords and has somewhat folded the two organizations together.

SmashWords has always one of the top places to publish erotica, especially those stories that will get you thrown in the dungeon elsewhere. SW turns a blind eye to most subjects, not on the short list of no-nos, such as underage and family stuff.

I’ve always moderated my writing to meet the standards of Amazon and Apple. Apple users are a horny lot and buy a boatload of my smut, so I don’t want to offend the fruit lover’s company. I don’t know if it’s because they are so nerdy they can’t get a date, but I don’t care as long as their credit card doesn’t bounce.

On the positive side, I write explicit sex stories that keep the Kleenex people and Eveready battery rabbits in business without flying too close to the sun.

SmashWords has been good to me for the last twelve years, and I’ve worried about their acquisition by D2D. After penning my latest masterpiece, The Shrink, I decided to give Draft2Digital a shot. At 80,000 words or 240 printed pages or almost eight hours of smut whispered straight to your brain, it was a neat story for me to serve up to my readers.

I write erotica because I enjoy it and hope that it provides the reader with the necessary stimulation that he or she needs. Being a swinger has meant that we’ve been there and done that in most cases, often with messy results. Usually, creating a scene in one of my stories will be simply rewriting some event that occurred at a house party. With the names changed to protect the guilty of course.

Wifey and I have been lucky in that our initial experiences were at a well-established large Lifestyle group in the Midwest. The dances would often be several hundred couples. We would take over a small hotel or at least several floors. The people were typically upper middle class, including a state senator, doctors, lawyers, and even a preacher (if you can believe that).

This has provided me with a never-ending source of ideas for my stories. Moving to Las Vegas has been more of the same, except COVID has dampened the party scene somewhat. It’s getting better, but not like it was.

So when I published The Shrink, I hoped for decent sales, but SmashWords and Draft2Digital sales figures were disappointing. I was seeing Amazon and Apple sales as usual, but SmashWords was really quiet.

Then I checked the SmashWords home screen best seller lists and looked for my stories, especially The Shrink. But https://www.smashwords.com/shelves/home/1007/any/any they were nowhere to be found on any of the best-seller lists.

Remember to turn off the filter at the top right to allow “Include all erotica.”

Typically, I can find some of my popular stories somewhere in the top ten pages of Featured New Releases, Trending Now, Bestselling Books, or Bestselling Box Sets.

On the first page of Trending Now for today, 2023-10-27, four of my stories are listed together as shown below:

Most porn stories are short and you’re lucky to be able to get off while reading the entire story, but if you turn on the Over 50K Words filter in Trending Now under Erotica || Action Adventure, you are left with seven stories. Of which, three of the seven are Larry Archer’s erotica, as most of my stories are north of 50,000 words.

Switching to Bestselling Books, you’ll find The Shrink and House Party 4 on the first page. Then on page 2 of Bestselling Books, you’ll find three of my stories, House Party 3, House Party, and Company Benefits.
