Windows 10 – Should You Upgrade?

As someone who lives in the Bi-World of computers, Windows and Mac OS. Maybe I should say Tri-World but that doesn’t sound as dirty because I would have to throw in Android and a little iPhone (iOS) as my wife has drank the Kool-Aid.

I love my wife but she is such a Luddite. If I ever wanted to get rid of her, all I’d have to do is delete “Home” from her GPS. Then the next time she left, she’d never find her way back. LOL

Anyway as a longtime Windows user, I’m getting more and more concerned about the security changes in Windows 10. I live in three worlds – Straight, Swinger, and Erotic Author. None of these three worlds know about each other and keeping them separate is getting harder and harder every day.

It’s bad enough that Google knows everything about you and in their simple minded fashion, link up every scrap of information. I’m sure that you’ve noticed after you search for something, then ads for the search object immediately start showing up every time you go on the Internet.

Now Windows 10 comes along with its 35 page Terms of Service (ToS) to tell you that they are going to read every email you send, every site you visit, every picture on your computer, and every document on your computer; in general if it’s electronic Microsoft is going to know it and sell your information to anyone with a buck.

I don’t think Micro$oft is deliberately mean but in their zeal to help you, is creating a real privacy issue. All of the tech publications are screaming about the potential loss of privacy, with all of the data options turned on by default. If you install Windows 10, you have to manually turn off all the data mining options and you still can’t turn everything off.

Windows 10 creates a unique user ID that every thing is tied to so no matter if its a picture of Aunt Mary or you getting butt fucked by your wife or her friends, they will be able to link them all together.

While I was interested in upgrading to W10, now I’ve decided to let the dust settle and see how this all works out because frankly I’m a little worried. Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean that they are not out to get you. Beware the Man (i.e. 1984).

A couple of hints for the paranoid:

  • Always uncheck the keep me signed in box for FaceBook, Twitter, or any other social media sites. Especially if you maintain a “straight” presence on the web in addition to your smut sites. Many programs will automatically paste stuff to your FaceBook page with a slip of the mouse button. You may find that your wife’s latest gangbang gets published to your family website.
  • I use two browsers, IE and Chrome. One browser is for straight stuff and one for my more sick activities. This way you stand less of a chance of cross-polinating information by mistake.
  • Create separate email addresses for your smut stuff. Keep everything separate.
  • Check out a previous posting along these same lines.

20140310_183501Sorry for the non-sexually explicit posting and I’m working on a long post about the Pool Party we went to last weekend that I’ll have up shortly. Sorry that I’m unable to share the pictures but I’ll think about you when I’m abusing myself looking at them. 🙂

About LarryArcher

Larry Archer's the name, smut's my game. I am a writer of erotic literature that's generally always HEA (Happily Ever After), which typically involves no regrets sex. I write in a humorous style with a plot and suitable for reading with one hand. My stories are full of sexual situations that are often taken straight from our swinger lifestyle in Las Vegas. If you want to enjoy erotica, where every page is dripping with action, give me a try.

There’s also a feature that turns your computer into a Wi-Fi hotspot that’s accessible by anyone within the range if your home network: Turn it off!

  2. Thanks kdaddy, I completely forgot about that one and that is another big hole.

I have had little problem between FB and WP because I am different persons to them. But I still try to pay attention. The good thing is I don’t post pictures on WP and my FB settings are pretty strict too. And FB is solely for the purpose of family life. I don’t do tweeter or FB for my WP persona.
I think that’s the only way for me to keep sane. Now, I just need to remember to switch my laptop to a different user when the kids are around, as my own is password protected, but it doesn’t help protect them (or me) if they see my reader, does it?
    Sigh!

    • Away from my desktop computers, I use a MacBook Air and always have to remember to log out and log in as Guest to keep the dirty pictures and other stuff hidden. The Mac is nice because it pretty much isolates you if you log in as Guest.

Well, I have a Mac laptop, so if I switch users, my kids can’t get to my blog or pictures. My youngest is still naive enough to switch from my account to the kids account even if I am not around. It’s the older ones I’m more worried about 🙂

  4. My biggest problem is when one of our straight friends wants to borrow a computer to look something up at the house. I really need to work on hiding the pictures on my Air as it does a good job of sniffing out pictures even when you bury them in a folder. I could explain away the ones that are just porn but the ones where people are identifiable are harder to explain. I have a studio in the basement and my wife’s sister mentioned one day that she recognized a woman we know on the wall. They weren’t anything bad just nudes but how do you explain that you have nudes of some guy’s wife. LOL

If Microsoft is also starting to do the data mining crap then maybe it’s time for me to switch to Linux. All the data mining is getting out of hand, and I hate Google for it. But there are ways to protect your privacy. For browsing the internet, at least get Self Destructing Cookies, or a similar addon so that you can keep the few cookies you want and the hundreds or thousands of others automatically delete themselves a couple minutes after you leave the website. I use it on Firefox, it’s great.
